A new season beckons….and with it, more questions

With any football club over the summer break, the forward planning to the
beginning of a new season brings with it hope, and expectations.

Will we do better than last year? Will the new signings work? Who will we be
playing and when?

With our football club, this season is full of hope and optimism after a
doomed Premiership campaign.
Will do better than last year?
Hopefully!
Bottom is not a nice place to be in the Championship, as many Leeds fans will
agree! But, as Sunderland showed last year, bottom one year doesn’t mean bottom
the next.

Will the new signings work? Now, this question can be further broken
down.
Will Mart Poom be an adequate replacement for Ben Foster?
Can
Richard Lee force him out of the first team squad when he chance comes?
Can
Jobi McAnuff be our best winger, or will either Bouzza or Smith take that
accolade?
Does Aidy really need another striker, seeing as our strike force
is now King, Henderson, Hoskins, Priskin and Kabba?
Will Matt Jackson be the
man to fill DeMerit’s shoes while away on international duty?
Will the loss
of Chambers make Doyley a better player?

As for the league we’re in, the number of teams that could threaten the top
is bigger than ever.
Relegated teams always mount a challenge, can Charlton
and Sheffield United reclaim their place in the top flight?
The teams who
failed in the play-offs will be in contention as well. Can Southampton, West
Brom and Wolves go that one better?
Can teams such as Norwich, Crystal
Palace, Stoke and Cardiff make that step up in performance?
That’s 10 teams
already, what if someone makes a giant leap like Derby County last year?

All these questions sit in the mind of Watford fans, brooding all summer
long, waiting for the long awaited off. Fear not Hornet fans, the time is nearly
upon us! Wealdstone away on the 18th is the first step on the road, back to the
Premiership!
