Chelsea – Up there already!

Chelsea’s good start to this new season of the Premiership – sorry… Premier League – has been mirrored by everybody’s favourites for the Title Manchester Utd relatively poor start. After just four games, José Mourinho finds himself five points ahead of friend but also great rival Sir Alex Ferguson.

This gap means that to catch up with Chelsea , Utd must win two matches while at the same time, Chelsea losing two. The two sides meet in a few weeks time and, with Chelsea looking unbeatable, the Premier League might well be decided as early as September.

This week however, speculation is rife that Ronaldinho will be leaving Barcelona’s Nou Camp to join Chelsea’s ‘Blue Camp’.

Whilst I admire the Brazilian superstar – anyone who loves their football cannot fail to – his arrival at Stamford Bridge would lead to similar unrest to that seen when Michael Ballack arrived last season.

It was because of the German’s arrival that the club were forced to pay John Terry a massive £130,000 per week wages and they are still negotiating with Frank Lampard.

Sources indicate that, should the World Cup winner arrive from Spain , he will be on a weekly salary of some £200,000 per week.

What then for John and Frank? £210,000 per week? Much as I like Ronaldinho, I hope that these rumours are what they are… just rumours.
