Arsenal boss in reassuring mood
Arsene Wenger was dismissive of the transfer window as all talk and very little action; however the Frenchman is confident his squad is currently strong enough to challenge for honours.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is content that his squad has enough quality and strength in depth to challenge for silverware this season.
The Gunners chief did not add to his ranks on transfer deadline day and is not too concerned about a lack of newcomers at the Emirates Stadium.
He told the Islington Gazette:
"We have the squad to cope with every problem we face during the season.
"I really think it's more interesting for us to look at our strengths and at our quality rather than looking outside. I know that makes headlines, but it doesn't win games.
"I have to say it has been a transfer window largely of talk.
"The best example that illustrates this is that of Kaka. He was mentioned ten times in connection with Chelsea and then finally he said he is staying at AC Milan.
"Cristiano Ronaldo is another example that has occupied the media for the whole summer and in the end there was no movement.
"
You can add Emmanuel Adebayor to that list. These were the stories of the summer and basically none of them moved."
Is Arsene Wenger’s squad strong enough to challenge for honours or will it be found out this season?
