Rovers open Roberts talks

Blackburn Rovers have opened talks over a new contract with striker Jason Roberts.

Roberts, 30, has been at Ewood Park since July 2006 but has only become
a first-team regular since Paul Ince arrived as manager this summer.

The Grenada international has made seven appearances this term in which he has scored two goals.

Roberts still has 18 months remaining on his existing contract, but the
former Wigan, West Brom, Bristol Rovers and Wolves striker has already
held talks over extending his deal with the club's hierarchy.

"We are having talks at the moment and hopefully something will come from that," he revealed.

"I'm happy here and willing to work hard for my place.

"If the manager and the chairman are happy for me to stay then hopefully we will work something out.

"I am always happy when I'm playing but I'm sure all the other players will say that too."
