It is time for Liverpool fans to play their part
Football FanCast columnist Lee Foley feels that his fellow Liverpool fans should realise the part they have
to play in future success.
Recently, the Liverpool players have been exceeding all expectations in the
Premiership, the manager has 'tinkered' less and the men behind the scenes
have, somewhat unusually, remained behind the scenes!
The one man I have not mentioned above is a world famous man indeed, the
Anfield 12th man.
Article after article on Liverpool forums all over the internet, pleading
with the Anfield faithful to replicate the electric atmosphere from a Champions
League encounter at the very highest level, to every Premiership match,
something we know has been lacking in recent times. Is this due to the vast
difference in the amount of success we have had in the two competitions? I
certainly hope not, because I would never consider Anfield as a place for the
‘sing when you're winning' brigade.
I am a Liverpool fan, and whenever I take my seat in Anfield (and I use
that term lightly of course!), I think it is only fair that as one of the lucky
ones who managed to get a ticket, I sing my heart out for the lad's on the
pitch that I have came to support. Why would I bother buying the ticket if I
didn't want to be a part of what Anfield is all about?
Stadiums all over the world can outsize us, but what is passion measured in?
If you fancy trying, you'll need a pretty big ruler if its metres, bring your
trunks if its litres, because Anfield is something special.
All that is asked of me, and everyone else privileged enough to be in the
stadium, is to sing out loud, support my players and applaud them for their
efforts in giving us what we expect, what we crave, what Liverpool Football
Club deserve.
I want the success, you want the success and we ALL know what is
required of us, so every Liverpool fan reading this, please, please, please
play your part, make sure the person next to, in front of and behind you are
playing their part, make sure everyone knows that this is not just a club, it
is our religion, Anfield is our church, so when the hymn's start, do your part!
