Spurs can save themselves £11m, as solution is staring Harry in the face
Football
FanCast columnist Matt
Wright feels that the
solution to Spurs' troubled left hand side is staring Redknapp in the face.
There are three things that you can guarantee that will
happen at every transfer window. One, over inflated prices, two, panic buying and
three, Spurs will be linked with a move for Stewart Downing – it has been going
on for years now and I for one is amazed that it's never has actually happened.
I don't know what all the fuss is about the player
in all honesty and never been overly impressed when I have seen him, but time
after time our managers seem to take a liking to him. Maybe Fleet Street are
putting two and two together and making five, as they look to solve our ever
problem left side, but if Harry is serious in bringing Downing to the club for
a reported £11m, then I call upon him to think again, as the solution is
staring him right in the face.
Jamie O'Hara for me has been a breath of fresh air
and, in my opinion the solution to our left side woes. The youngster is one of
the few players who came out of the Juande Ramos time with any credit and his
committed and passionate displays put a lot of his more senior colleagues to
shame. He is quick, tricky, and hardworking, delivers a wonderful cross and
more importantly is left footed. Last night he was the best player on the pitch
and in the second half linked up well with Bale, when moved out to the left
hand side. O'Hara seems to be growing in confidence with every given week and
in truth would rather see him on the left side oppose to Aaron Lennon or David
Bentley. It is time that Harry gave him a chance to stake a claim and give him
a run on the left, because in all honesty it could save us a small fortune and
hopefully put these Downing rumours to bed once and for all.
Do
you agree with Matt that O'Hara is the man to solve Spurs' left hand woes, or
does Harry need to bring someone, like Downing, in?
