Ipswich Town Football FanCast – Blog 10/01/09
Firstly before I get onto the latest happenings at Ipswich Town, I must apologise for the lack of podcasts over the last couple of weeks. I dropped my macbook and had to send it off to get fixed, however it can't be fixed so waiting on a replacement before I can get the show recordings back on again. The good news is I should be getting a better one as Apple don't make the old Macbook Pro anymore, so I will get the new model. So onto Ipswich Town news, and so far no signings have come through before this weekends match against Sheffield Wednesday at Portman Road, who themselves have just signed former England International Michael Gray on a short term loan in time for todays match. The match comes of the back of the win over Chesterfield in the FA Cup last weekend, where only just over 12,000 fans turned up to watch the fairly average Ipswich Town win 3-0, all the goals coming in the second half. In a game like this, I think the fans should be refunded half the cost of their ticket cost because there was really very little point in being there for the first half! But the result does lead to a much higher quality in opposition in the 4th round with Chelsea looking likely to host Ipswich, given that they don't slip up against Southend in the replay after Chelsea could only manage a 1-1 draw with them, and maybe going to Southend could provide some tricky business, but I doubt that will be the case. Back to transfer news, and whilst I've been writing this, it has been announced that Alex Bruce is likely to be leaving the club with a move to Leeds United after the club and Bruce couldn't come to an agreement over a new contract deal. I am personally very disappointed that he is going and that Jim couldn't see that he is worth his wage and is a fantastic and young defender, which Town need. Currently other than possibly signing 2 players from Stockport, there are rumours that Town are linked with trying to sign Lita, who has recently been on loan at rivals Norwich City. However, this kind of signing seems to rarely come through at the club, so not matter how much myself or any other fan would love to see the arrival of a quality striker like himself, I wouldn't hold my breath on this one! Lastly a little preview to todays match against Sheffield Wednesday at Portman Road. If Town can pull of a win today in will be only Jim Magiltons second run of 3 wins in a row as Manager, so if it can be pulled of it will boost his confidence in himself and for the team which is really needed at this moment in time. A win today could see Ipswich move up to 9th in the league, given that QPR don't win today.
