Will Manchester City star continue to call the shots?

Football FanCast columnist Rob Facey wonders whether Robinho is justified in thinking that he is bigger than the club?

Robinho will demand to know which players Manchester City intend to sign before the end of the January transfer window when he meets with manager Mark Hughes today, according to reports.

The 25 year old, who was fined £320,000 for leaving the club's Tenerife training camp last week, is thought to be unhappy with life at City, despite publicly claiming he is pleased to be at the club, and his agent is said to be looking into the possibility of a move to Chelsea, states The Independent.

It is understandable that he wants the club's fortunes to improve, but is demanding to know names the club is after the right way to go about it?

Craig Bellamy, Wayne Bridge and Nigel De Jong have already been signed this month, although their high profile chase of Kaka ended in failure.

Although this was not the reason for Robinho's unauthorised exit from Tenerife, the two are close friends and the City striker will be upset that Kaka did not following the pinging of cash registers in Manchester like he did.

As a result, he wants to hear from Hughes how City are going to attempt to improve the team.

Somehow Robinho has managed to turn a meeting where his actions are discussed into one where he demands answers from his manager.

It will be the Welshman doing the pleading and explaining, rather than theother way round, and if that is the sign of a well run football club then things are worse than initially reported at Eastlands.

The intriguing situation at Man City is well documented and player power has been on the rise for years now, but surely Hughes must make a stand if he is to remain in the job and have any sort of control over his players.

He is already viewed as the Abu Dhabi Group's fall guy; a ‘yes man' that can not put up a fight against the wishes of the club's owners, and he must do something to change this image.

But, realistically, it may already be too late. Hughes is in a no-win situation at the club and will either be blamed if the club continue to struggle or ignored if they become a success, which will be attributed to the owner's money.

He is trying, however. While the club chased Kaka and Henry, Hughes made sure that he got his man in Craig Bellamy, but perhaps this is where things are going wrong.

If the owners insist on players like Robinho, then signing Bellamy will not appease the Brazilian, and why should it?

Robinho was bought on a promise that he would be joined by the worlds greatest players and this hasn't happened. But is that an excuse to think he is bigger than the club?

Undoubtedly the best striker at the club, City fans will want the Brazilian to stay at Eastlands, but last weeks actions will just confirm that he came to the club for the wrong reasons.

Can Hughes do anything do put his striker in his place when the pair meet later today,or will Robinho be the one making the demands?
