Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp admitted after his side's Carling Cup Final defeat to Manchester United that he wasn't confident of his side winning the penalty shoot-out at Wembley.

After the match had ended goalless after 120 minutes of football, United scored all four of their penalties while Jamie O'Hara had his spot-kick saved by Ben Foster and David Bentley failed to hit the target with his effort.

"I have to be honest, we weren't that confident with our penalty-takers really and you looked over there and they had very confident penalty-takers," Redknapp admitted.

"There's injuries, there's fatigue – we've spent all our resources. If you're Middlesbrough you must be sitting at home and enjoying every minute of this.

"But I thought we were super. It was a great performance and it came down to a lottery in the end.

"They couldn't beat us in 90 minutes plus extra-time. We didn't deserve to lose and I thought we were fantastic."
