Zola pens new Hammers deal
West Ham United have confirmed that manager Gianfranco Zola has pledged his long-term future to the club after putting pen to paper on a new contract.
Zola, who took the reins at Upton Park in September, is now contracted to the Hammers until summer 2013.
The rookie Italian coach has guided the Hammers to eighth place in the Premier League in his first season despite being forced to sell key players in January and being denied several more through injury.
Zola signed his new deal following Saturday's 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Chelsea, with assistant Steve Clarke set to follow suit.
"I am delighted to have signed a new contract," he told the club's official website."I'm very pleased and grateful for the club for looking after me.
"We have a project that we are taking forward with the coaching staff and with (sporting director) Gianluca Nani and (chief executive) Scott Duxbury.
"We are very much working together and we believe very much in the project we are working on.
"We are going to try everything we can to make it happen."
