Danish defender Lars Jacobsen remains hopeful of securing a new contract to remain with Everton next season.

The versatile 29-year-old has suffered a number of injury problems during his first campaign at Goodison Park and has made just five appearances for David Moyes' side to date.

However, Jacobsen hopes to prove his worth next term, with his agent, Karsten Aabrink, telling the club's official website:"There is interest from other clubs, but Lars' first option would be to stay at Everton.

"He feels he has returned to the level he was at before the injury and he is pleased with how David Moyes has treated him.

"I think the situation is positive. We have close contact with Everton and we will probably have a meeting around the FA Cup Final and take it from there."
