Newcastle United's temporary boss Alan Shearer believes one more win will keep his side in the Premier League after they moved out of the bottom three with a crucial 3-1 victory against Middlesbrough.

The Magpies were forced to come from behind after falling behind through an early Habib Beye own goal, but took all three points thanks to goals by Steven Taylor, Obafemi Martins and Peter Lovenkrands.

A relieved Shearer admitted:"The club needed it, the players needed it, we all needed it.

"We've won one and got two to go. We need at least another win but we've now got the belief and confidence back.

"There's still a long way to go. We'll be back in training on Tuesday to look at a few things.

"I've said to the players 'enjoy being out of the bottom three'. Hopefully we'll stay out of there – it's in our own hands now.

"We were brilliant and I couldn't have asked any more of the team. To go 1-0 down and come back showed character. It's a magnificent feeling. It's a long time since we had a win."
