Pollitt agrees Wigan extension
Veteran goalkeeper Mike Pollitt is set to sign a new one-year contract with Wigan Athletic.
The 37-year-old, who joined the Latics from Rotherham United in the summer of 2005, is content to play a back-up role for Steve Bruce's side, with Chris Kirkland and Richard Kingson ahead of him in the pecking order.
He told the Evening Post:"I've agreed a contract, now it's just a case of getting it signed. I'm hoping it can all be done before I go away on holiday.
"It wasn't a difficult decision to make, it probably took all of 30 seconds and more or less it's the same contract I've been on this season.
"I wasn't in a position to go in and ask for stupid money. I'm the number two keeper, so I had to be sensible.
"Of course I would have liked to have played a few more games, any player would think the same, but it's still good to be involved in the squad.
"I'm at a Premier League club and the chance of still having the opportunity to play games at this level is worth hanging around for.
"I waited a long time to get to the Premier League after being in the lower divisions, so I'd be reluctant to leave."
