Fulham midfielder Simon Davies is hopeful of being fit for the start of the new season, having recently undergone ankle surgery.

The 29-year-old Wales international has been sidelined since mid-April, having been troubled by the problem for some time.

He told the club's official website:"It's been a few weeks now since the operation and next I'll be able to have the scans to see that the bones healed alright.

"Then it's on with the rehabilitation and fitness. If everything goes to plan I'll be back for pre-season.

"Once the bone has healed properly I can look forward to next season.

"Being cautious I might miss the first couple of weeks but, all being well, I will be fit and available for selection for the first game of the season.

"The specialist said that if I'd of carried on longer the bone could have cracked all the way through and it would have been five or six months out."
