England's World Cup qualifier against Andorra on Wednesday will go ahead as planned despite the threat of strike action on the London Underground.

There were reports that a planned 48-hour strike on the tube would either result in the game being postponed or force it to be played behind closed doors.

However, the Football Association insists the game will go ahead as scheduled, although they have advised the 70,000 fans who have bought tickets to ensure they set off to Wembley early.

"The game will kick off at 8.15 as planned tomorrow," confirmed chief executive Ian Watmore.

"It will not, repeat not, be played behind closed doors.

"Since the threat of a tube strike started last week we have worked very co-operatively with all those parties involved. I'd like to thank them for their help.

"Supporters should plan to travel as early as possible. The turnstiles will now open earlier, at 5.45pm, to limit disruption.

"Supporters attending should be prepared that, due to the planned industrial action, travelling in London will not be straightforward, and they should expect a disrupted journey."
