Ukraine international Andriy Shevchenko has been handed the chance to return to his homeland by Dynamo Kyiv.

The 32-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge just over three years ago from AC Milan but has failed to impress during his time in England.

He returned to the Rossoneri last term on loan but spent most of the season on the San Siro substitute's bench.

Shevchenko is almost certain to leave Carlo Ancelotti's side this summer having fallen behind the likes of Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba in the striker's pecking order at the FA Cup holders.

Kyiv's club president, Igor Surkis, was quoted as saying:"We are interested in Shevchenko. An offer has been made. We are waiting for a response.

"My heart and soul is open to him. Andriy has to decide where he and his family would be comfortable."

Shevchenko has found the net 22 times in 53 starts and 23 appearances from the substitute's bench during his time in west London.
