Newcastle star happy to stay at St James
Nigeria striker Obafemi Martins insists he remains fully committed to Newcastle United and is happy to stay at St James' Park despite the club's relegation to the Championship.
Martins has spent three seasons with the Magpies following a £10million transfer from Internazionale and was believed to be one of the players the club were willing to sacrifice in a bid to raise funds ahead of a season in the second tier.
But the Nigeria international claims he would be happy to stay on Tyneside and help return the club to the Premier League.
"I hope I'm not sold," he told the Newcastle Chronicle."If the club decide to sell me I have no choice but to go. But my aim is to stay and help get Newcastle promoted next season.
"I love living in Newcastle and there are few better places to live and play. I know the club is for sale and that is hard for the fans.
"Yet I hear there could be some light at the end of the tunnel eventually."
Meanwhile, Damien Duff's agent has dismissed reports liking the Republic of Ireland international winger with a move to Premier League-bound Burnley.
