Football FanCast columnist Rob Facey looks at Chelsea's prospective transfer targets and wonders whether they will be good enough to help Ancelotti succeed.

Alexandre Pato is set to join Chelsea in a £30m move, according to reports, as the new Stamford Bridge boss looks to stamp his mark on the team.

The big money move is reported in The Sun who claim that Chelsea have already enquired about the 19 year old Brazilian striker who scored 24 goals in 54 games over the past two years at AC Milan as Ancelotti targets Champions League success.

"Chelsea has a great record with five semi-finals in six years. But now we have to win," he said.

Ancelotti obviously has first hand experience of coaching Pato, and said of the striker, nicknamed The Duck: "He has an incredible shot and great speed. He is twice as fast as a normal athlete."

Pato's Milan team mate, David Beckham, was also full of praise, adding: "He is only 19 and I think he can become one of the world's greatest players."

Chelsea, like Milan, have long been criticised for having a squad that is too old, but is £30m for a 19 year old really the answer?

If Champions League success is the priority for the Blues then Ancelotti will have to think about replacing Didier Drogba who is likely to miss numerous games following his rant in the wake of the Barcelona debacle.

Pato is undoubtedly a great talent but this might be a step too soon; filling in for perhaps the most feared striker in world football. The Premier League too is a harsh mistress and easily finds players out if they are not up to standard.

Ancelotti was not the unanimous choice as far as the fans are concerned at Chelsea and will have to impress the doubters quickly. This Pato deal could easily backfire meaning he could find himself out of a job quite quickly.

With Kaka and er, Glen Johnson, also on Ancelotti's shopping list, is splashing the cash on Pato really the best idea?

The club will look to offload a few players, thought to include Deco and Malouda, in order to raise funds, but there will not be as much money available as in previous years.

Is Pato the real deal, or would Ancelotti be quacking mad to place all of his eggs in one basket?
