Petrov confirms injury fears

Aston Villa midfielder Stiliyan Petrov has confirmed that he will miss the start of the season with the shoulder injury he picked up in the Peace Cup.

The Bulgaria international sustained the problem in Wednesday's 3-1 victory against Atlante.

He told Sky Sports:"It's especially frustrating as it's pre-season, but that's the way it goes.

Kanu's agent has revealed that the Nigeria international is on the verge of signing a one-year contract extension with Portsmouth.
