New Football FanCast columnist Glenn Thomas is glad to see a Spurs manager finally adopt a quick win formula.

In twenty years of supporting my beloved Spurs I have seen us go through no fewer than 12 different managers.

Some have been good, some have been bad and some have been extremely unlucky in having their services cut short, as the club continually bow down to slightest hint of discontent. There is a lot to be said for having stability at the football club and unfortunately we have suffered greatly as a result.

I think half the problem at Spurs has been the ethics the club has adopted over the years. There has always been the philosophy of building for the future, attempt to nurture young talents in the hope that in time that not only will they save the club millions in the future, but at the same time bring success to the club. If you were going to keep a manager for five years then that is fine, but that never happens at Spurs and subsequently we continually see a high turnover of players as the managers come and go.

I have never understood this whole building for the future malarkey and why people use United as evidence of how effective this policy works, they seem to forget that Fergie had already won three titles and endless other cups until he started to blood youngsters into the team. There was no building for the future in his early days as he was simply intent on bringing success to the club. Building for the now has to be the way forward and I am glad to see a Spurs manager finally singing from the same hymn sheet.

Redknapp said: 'We just took two kids from Sheffield United and we want young players but really, it's all about your first team. You need experience and people who are going to win football matches.

'It's no good saying 'we're going to be a good team in four years', because I probably won't be here. That's not how the game works, you need a team.

'There's no problem with the chairman on that front. He brought me here as the manager and he knows I've got a bit of an idea what I'm doing so he backs me.' (Daily Mail)

It is refreshing to see and why there are still some supporters who still show disdain for Harry, his philosophy of wanting immediate results is something that we should all embrace as for far too long we have been stuck in this continual transition rut. It is time we brought the players in that can do a job and not those who may prevail in time.
