Citizens close to Toure swoop
Manchester City are closing in on the signing of Arsenal centre-half Kolo Toure, having recently missed out on Chelsea skipper John Terry.
The 28-year-old Ivory Coast defender has spent more than seven years with the Gunners and has racked up well over 300 first-team appearances, but boss Arsene Wenger accepts that Toure could be on his way out.
He said during the club's pre-season tour of Hungary:"We will see what's happening in the next 24 hours, nothing is decided yet.
"We have seven centre-backs and I am in the position where I have to play some in midfield, but of course Kolo is a very good player and we will see what will happen in the next 24 hours."
Wenger also has William Gallas, Thomas Vermaelen, Johan Djourou, Mikael Silvestre, Alex Song and Philippe Senderos at his disposal, but continues to be linked with a move for a more dominant defender to bolster his options.
Fulham's Brede Hangeland has been mentioned as a possible target, despite the Cottagers stating that they are unlikely to part with the Norway international.
