Would his signing be the decisive piece of the jigsaw for Spurs?

Football FanCast columnist Rob Facey wonders whether Spurs signing Muntari could transform them from Europa League to Champions League hopefuls.

Harry Redknapp is lining up a bid for his former charge Sulley Muntari as he looks to strengthen his Tottenham side in the hope of maintaining their lofty position in the Premier League.

Spurs are among the pace setters after a great start to the domestic campaign and The Sun is reporting he is hoping to tempt Muntari away from Serie A and back to England.

Muntari, the Ghanaian midfielder, played under Redknapp at Portsmouth before financial constraints forced the sale of the player to Inter Milan for £12m after helping the South Coast side to lift the FA Cup.

The window shuts next week and Redknapp will need to ensure he has a squad capable of keeping the pressure on the Big Four (or Five) until at least January where more reinforcements, if necessary, could be brought in.

Rumours continue to persist about Jermaine Jenas' future in North London but surely Redknapp will not be looking to offload anyone just yet.

Saying that, given Mourinho's reported interest in the England international, surely a player-plus-money deal would benefit Tottenham?

Signing Muntari before the window closes would surely be a masterstroke and may make all of the difference to Spurs' season. He has shown his Premier League class from his time at Fratton Park and obviously has a good working relationship with the manager who only sold him because his hand was forced.

It shows a lot about the progression of Spurs over the last year that they are confident players from a top European side such as Inter would happily join them and not miss challenging for prizes. That shows the level of ambition at the club

Could Muntari be the final piece in the White Hart Lane jigsaw? Could he perhaps make the difference between a Europa League and a Champions League spot?
