I fear his signing is a luxury Spurs can do without
Football FanCast columnist Matt Wright wonders if Sulley Muntari is a luxury that Spurs can do without.
When the rumours of Sulley Muntari and Tottenham surfaced in the summer, I have to concede that I was all for it and felt it would be a positive move for the football club. The reason for it is that I saw the Ghanaian as the ideal player to fill our void on the left hand side; however the performances of Luka Modric and in recent weeks and Niko Kranjcar make me believe that it is no longer the problem it once was.
Muntari, who was the one that reportedly turned down the move in the summer, has struggled to make the grade at Inter and things haven't improved this season where a few public spats with Jose Mourinho haven't helped his cause. It has led to speculation from his agent that a January exit could be on the cards and Frank Schreier has suggested only today that Tottenham and Inter remain in talks about possibly resurrecting a deal.
Of course we have been here all before and this could easily be just agent talk, but knowing Harry's admiration for the player it does make you wonder whether he may well be tempted to strike a deal if there is potentially one in the offing. The debate therefore turns to what would Muntari bring to Tottenham that we haven't got already at the football club and if the Ghanaian is simply a luxury that we can now do without? I firmly believe he would be, but what is the general consensus?
