Peter Lovenkrands has reaffirmed his wish to stay in England by revealing he has turned down an offer from a Spanish club.

The Danish international, who spent the back end of last season at St James Park, hinted yesterday that he would certainly be interested in rejoining the Magpies, despite them being in the Championship, and will be happy to open to talks if they so wish:

"Of course I would be interested in coming back to Newcastle,

"I really enjoyed my time at the club and would certainly be interested in hearing what they had to say." The Journal.

Lovenkrands is a free agent having severed ties with his former club Schalke; however is desperate to remain in Britain. His family are settled in England so the Dane has no intention of moving abroad and uprooting them again.

"That is correct; I have turned down a Spanish club,

"Out of consideration to my two children, I would like to remain in Great Britain." Lovenkrands told Ekstra Bladet.

Lovenkrands enjoyed a decent spell on loan Tyneside last season, where he netted 3 goals in 12 games for the Magpies.
