Magistrates have banned and fined the Manchester United supporter who was involved in an altercation with Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy.

Jake Clarke, 21, from Chorley, Lancashire, admitted a charge of entering the field of play when he celebrated Michael Owen's stoppage-time winner in the Manchester derby on September 12.

United won a highly-charged match 4-3 after a controversial late goal deep into stoppage-time.

Clarke was being restrained by Old Trafford security staff when he and Bellamy became embroiled in a spat after the final whistle.

The bricklayer admitting getting 'over-excited' and claimed he regretted the incident when asked at Trafford Magistrates' Court.

However, the court issued a three-year banning order and imposed a fine of £305.

"Your explanation was that you wanted to celebrate. This does not give you any right to run onto the pitch," said Anne Marie Evans, chair of the Magistrate's bench.

"Your actions could have resulted in disorder and possible violence."
