Carlo Ancelotti has put his first defeat as Chelsea manager firmly behind him as he prepares to return to Champions League action with a trip to APOEL Nicosia.

The Blues were beaten 3-1 by Wigan Athletic in the Premier League at the weekend, but the Italian coach is fully expecting a response to their loss of the top-flight's only 100 per cent record this season against the Cypriot champions.

"We have to return to playing well and have a good direction," he declared.

"We analysed our mistakes, for sure, but I don't want to spend a lot of time on this match..

"It was not a good match. We understand this, but now we are looking forward to this game, this important game. Against Wigan it was not a good day.

"(On Wednesday night) I want to see a good reaction. Not a reaction: action. I want to see Chelsea play like in previous Premiership matches and also as we have in the Champions League."

Ancelotti must decide whether to play Ashley Cole after the England defender suffered a knee injury against Wigan.

Didier Drogba and Jose Bosingwa are suspended while Michael Ballack and John Obi Mikel are both injured.
