Neill close to Everton switch
Australia international Lucas Neill appears to be on the verge of signing for Everton.
The 31-year-old, who has been a free agent since leaving West Ham United at the end of last season, has been linked with a host of clubs in the last few months.
Toffees boss David Moyes is keen to sign Neill as Phil Neville is currently sidelined while Tony Hibbert is suspended.
However, there has been some good news regarding Neville who has been told he does not need an operation.
Neville sustained an injury to the posterior ligament in his left knee during Sunday's 2-1 defeat at Fulham.
It was initially feared that the ex-Manchester United star was set for a lengthy lay-off but he could now return to action by mid-November.
Meanwhile, Moyes is disappointed by his side's poor start to the season, saying:"We want to play better and start getting rhythm which we're yet to find.
"We haven't created much this season around the box and that's all down to the lack of rhythm. We are looking to play better and we are striving for the right balance.
"The players know they're not as they should be and I'm under no illusions that we should be much better."
