Portsmouth striker Frederic Piquionne has been warned to toughen up if he wants to be a success in English football.

The 30-year-old's only goal since signing for Pompey on a season-long loan from Lyon came in the Carling Cup against Hereford United and Fratton Park boss Paul Hart wants to see an improvement.

He told The News:"I think he's learning. Coming from the French Premier League to the English Premier League is a massive, massive change.

"He's decent in the air, but he's got to acquire some Premier League toughness. He's a bit bendy. The lad's got to get stronger for me, a bit more physical.

"He's got to battle hard and it's all about the experience of being out on the pitch and learning and acquiring a toughness.

"We've had numerous conversations and you would hope sooner rather than later he would adapt.

"He's had a good look at it now and we need for it to happen quite quickly."
