Hull City boss Phil Brown is expecting summer loan signing Jozy Altidore to prove his worth in the coming months.

The 19-year-old USA international has returned to the Tigers after helping his country seal a place at next summer's world Cup finals.

Altidore has so far scored once in six City outings since his arrival from Villarreal, but Brown is expecting a better return in the near future.

He told the Hull Daily Mail:"If you count the days he's been here in the two months since he signed, it's probably only half of them here.

"I don't know the lad too well and he doesn't know me or the coaching staff.

"You've got to remember he's a 19-year-old boy and he's been shipped from pillar to post in the last couple of years.

"Hopefully now we can see him bed down and find himself a good home here.

"It's not been easy for the lad in the last year. He's got involved in a big money move to Spain and it didn't go well for him and he's out on loan in another country.

"Now will be a valuable period for him to settle, but we will provide the environment for Jozy to be a key player for his country next summer."
