Spurs star gives Harry the answer to his January dilemma

Football FanCast guest columnist Luke Ward feels that Harry got his answer last night as to what to do with .

If Tottenham bossHarry was hoping that by openly expressing his concerns over Pavlyuchenko’s appetite and desire, was going to galvanise the Russian into action and make him determined to prove he was wrong, then last night’s performance would have left Harry incredibly disappointed and it would have gone a long way to making his mind made up as to what to do in January.

I have to admit that I have always felt a little sorry for Pav in the past and felt he was a victim of circumstance and perhaps not given a fair crack of the whip; however the attitude of the player, firstly coming on against Stoke at the weekend and last night’s showing against Everton doesn’t leave me much of an argument, against those who were happy to see him leave anyway. I cannot understand as to why he showed such a lack of urgency in his game and you do wonder as to how many more chances he is likely to get here on in until the January window opens.

I’m sure that Harry was frustrated, but relieved in equal measures, as he now has a clearer idea about the player and his future intensions. If he doesn’t want to take up the opportunities, when presented to him, then it is clear his heart isn’t in the football club anymore, therefore a parting of the ways is the best move all round. It is a shame in my opinion that Roman wasn’t prepared to fight for his future, but as Harry and many other managers have suggested that this is one big flaw about him and his game.

Would you be sad to see Roman leave, or after displays like last night is it very much good riddance?

He’s got to go – use the money to get a player we need like Sandro/Sissoko etc. 4 international strikers especially in a world cup year was never going to work. Promote one of the youngsters i.e. Obika/Taarabt or use Dos Santos (he’s a supporting striker and not a winger)

Its an interesting point but leaves out one factor – match sharpness. It is extremely difficult for a player to jump on his chances if he hasn’t been playing at the highest level. For Harry to really gauge his desire he needs to give Pavlyuchenko a run in the team. I don’t think that will happen so I think Harry will let him go if Pav asks to leave. If Pav doesn’t ask to leave I suspect Harry would be happy to have him as back up.

The moment Crouch arrived it was always going to go this way. I doubt we would ever have know how good Pav could have been in a spurs shirt from that point on.
