Babel to quit Liverpool…it is becoming somewhat of a bore!
Football FanCast guest columnist Jerry Kingston is finding the rumours regarding Babel’s future extremely tiresome.
Another Sunday is upon us and another newspaper story linking Ryan Babel with a move away from Anfield, it is getting rather boring and not to mention uninventive.
This week it was the turn of NOTW who decided to put their two and two together in the hope of making four. The school of thought behind this one is that Louis van Gaal is a Dutchman that is struggling at Bayern Munich; therefore he will want to call upon his fellow countryman to get him out of his hole he finds himself in. I suppose this story would have had more credence if the Bavarian giants didn’t actually possess arguably one of the best left wingers in world football with Franck Ribery. Once again it is bull of the highest order, especially when the momentum behind it is our old friend ‘a source’ close to the club that is providing the quotes:
“Rafa has totally blanked Babel since his outburst. He understands some of his concerns but has made it clear to the player more than once he will only play who he believes to be his strongest XI and won’t budge.
“Rafa cannot give Babel the assurances he needs with the World Cup coming up so he will let him go if he’s not happy.
“The manager’s only concern with this is that he won’t be getting any money to improve the squad from the move.” (NOTW)
For a ‘source’ close to the club he knows a hell of a lot of information I think you’ll agree and it certainly wouldn’t be the first time that we have heard such drivel. I for one have grown sick and tired of the speculation with regards to his future; however I can guarantee you that if he is moved on it certainly won’t be on a loan basis, given that Rafa’s transfer funds are in short supply therefore to claim this will simply be a loan move to Bayern is a joke in itself. I actually believe that this is about the 5th week in the row that Babel has been linked away with a move from Anfield, to different clubs I might add, and you just wonder at what point they’ll give up and look elsewhere. Maybe this ‘source’ can throw the media a bone elsewhere as this constant rumour about Babel leaving is becoming something of a yawn.
