cesc_fabregasFootball FanCast guest columnist Jamie Kay hopes that Fabregas has set the record straight once and for all.

I know the words ‘great article’ and ‘Daily Mail’ rarely goes hand in hand, yet there was an excellent interview with our own and the thinking of our captain fantastic over a variety of issues, from his time at Arsenal, the current Spanish side, his spat with and more significantly his future at the .

It was great reading and I am sure it is online somewhere if you want to take a look at it, but what I found reassuring about it was his comments about his future and while it may be tempting to move to Barcelona and while he has had the opportunity to move in the last three summers, he wants to remain at Arsenal and be a big part of our future.

“I am so happy here, and I want to continue to be part of what is happening here. Definitely. If not I would have left when I had the opportunity, three years ago, two years ago or last year. I believe in this team and I feel we can achieve things. The boss believes in us more than anyone, and I feel I am part of it. He makes me see that as well. And I don’t want to fail here.

“I think you have to be grateful to those who have helped you, when Steven Gerrard had the opportunity to go somewhere else he chose to stay with the club of his life, and I don’t think he will ever regret that. He made a decision to stay and he has to believe that it was the right one.” (Daily Mail)

Let’s hope this will bring the end to the matter and hopefully the media and a certain Txiki Begiristain will finally take note and spare us the weekly rumours that seem to be splashed over the newspapers whenever there is a quiet moment. I have always, like a majority of Arsenal fans, always believed that to be the case and felt that Fabregas was always being misquoted, let’s hope this latest interview finally redresses the balance.
