Chelsea head coach Carlo Ancelotti believes that a strong defence will be the key to Premier League success this season.

The 50-year-old Italian made his name with AC Milan and their fabled defensive strength is something that Ancelotti is aiming to emulate at Stamford Bridge.

He said:"If you want to win a cup or a championship it is important not to concede a goal. Defence is the key. If you don't concede a goal the worst it can be is 0-0.

"From the start of the season the defensive line did very well. With Alex, Branislav Ivanovic, John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho, I think Chelsea has the best central defence in the world at the moment.

"It is the same level as I had at Milan. I was very happy with Alessandro Nesta and PaoloMaldini there in the past and also I am happy to train the Chelsea defenders.

"No-one has four central defenders with this quality. They can play in any team in the world."
