Defender Sebastien Bassong is facing up to five weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring injury picked up during Tottenham Hotpsur's weekend derby defeat to Arsenal.

The Cameroon international limped off in the closing stages of the 3-0 north London derby defeat at the Emirates Stadium with a hamstring problem.

"It's not good news. It's a hamstring. I'll be out maybe four or five weeks. It just feels like my muscle is gone," revealed Bassong.

"It was really not a good day for me or the club or the fans. It was the worst day of the season."

The 23-year-old centre-half has scored one goal in 13 appearances for his new club in all competitions this term after joining in an £8million deal from Newcastle United during the summer.
