Fulham manager Roy Hodgson expects to have key players Danny Murphy and Andrew Johnson back in contention in the very near future.

Skipper and midfield orchestrator Murphy is currently sidelined by a knee injury, while striker Johnson has been troubled by a groin strain.

However, Hodgson expects both men to return to training next week, following the trip to St Andrew's to take on Birmingham City.

He told the club's official website: "Danny and AJ are getting much closer and I'm hoping to welcome them back into training with the team next week."

Meanwhile, the agent of Palermo goalkeeper Rubinho has dismissed speculation linking his client with a move to Craven Cottage.

Joao Santos told Mediagol.it earlier this week:"Rubinho has a four-year contract with Palermo and is an important player at the club.

"I've been working in Brazil and I've not spoken to anyone, not Fulham or anyone else. The rumours aren't true.

"I deny everything that's been written in recent days. Rubinho is under contract and he's happy in Palermo."
