Midfielder Nigel de Jong is predicting an end to Manchester City's run of six successive league draws when they return to action against Hull City at Eastlands on Saturday.

City's top-four ambitions have taken a knock in recent weeks with Mark Hughes' side unable to win games.

Last weekend's 2-2 draw with Liverpool was a case in point as City took a 2-1 lead only to concede an equaliser just seconds later.

City have slipped down to sixth place in the Premier League table, but Netherlands international de Jong believes a return to winning ways is just around the corner.

"There's a lot of hard games coming up, but I think Liverpool was a good one for us," he told the club's official website.

"The final result was not what we hoped for a time but we did well and we have a good chance for a win at home this weekend.

"Six draws in a row is not what we want, but being at home should count for us.

"We want a couple of wins now even though we know Chelsea (on December 5) will be a difficult one – and we have the Carling Cup game (quarter-final against Arsenal) in between.

"But the confidence is there because we are playing three times at home, which will give us a real boost.

"We know we can play against the best sides and that we can raise our game.

"We have showed that against Liverpool, we beat Arsenal and it was only a narrow defeat to United but we won't underestimate Hull this weekend."
