Portsmouth manager Paul Hart has vowed to continue with his positive approach to games, despite his side still propping up the Premier League table.

A 1-0 reverse at Stoke City left Pompey four points adrift of the safety mark, having won just twice in 13 league games this season.

However, Hart told The News:"It's very hard to be critical of that Stoke performance. Through thick and thin the players have tried to win football matches and that's what we will continue to do.

"We've just got to retain the confidence to turn them into wins.

"We didn't go to Stoke to sit back and soak it up, we went there to attack and try to get a result and we have been doing that all over the place.

"You could then say 'why don't you go there and sit back to get a result' but we are not like that. I think we saw some good things against Stoke.

"We defended magnificently and controlled the game from midfield for long periods. Not many can say that at a place where bigger teams than us have been caused many problems.

"We will continue to try to win matches."
