Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill is confident that striker Emile Heskey will be back in action in the near future, despite the recurrence of a back injury.

The 31-year-old missed the 5-1 win over Bolton Wanderers at the weekend, while his latest setback also saw him ruled out of England's friendly international against Brazil in Doha this weekend.

However, O'Neill expects to have Heskey available again sooner rather than later.

He said:"It's not a serious problem which will keep Emile out for weeks.

"I know Emile from the past, he's had an ongoing back problem throughout his time. It comes up now and again and it gets very stiff and it obstructs him.

"But overall it's not a monumentally difficult thing and we're trying to get to the bottom of it."

Heskey has struggled to make an impact since his move to Villa Park from Wigan athletic in January, scoring just twice in 26 appearances for the Midlanders.
