Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou has apologised after becoming involved in a spat with Abdoulaye Meite while on international duty with Ivory Coast.

Both Kalou and West Brom defender Meite were dropped from the Elephants team that beat Guinea at the weekend.

Kalou kicked Meite in retaliation for a foul during training last week to coach Vahid Halilhodzic's fury.

The Blues star said:"Meite is a big brother. I have apologised and he has accepted it.

"It's a pity that it was between Abdoulaye and myself. We were punished and I have accepted that and that's how we move on.

"You recognise your mistake and you learn – we've talked and it's over."

Kalou will also miss Wednesday's friendly against Germany.
