Tottenham Hotspur have been told to forget about the possibility of signing Brazil international Julio Baptista.

The AS Roma forward and former Arsenal loanee has been linked with a January move to White Hart Lane after the 28-year-old South American had seen his first-team opportunities dry up in Italy this season.

However, despite spending the majority of the season so far on the substitute's bench, Baptista's agent claims his client will not be returning to north London on loan.

He scored ten goals in 35 appearances for the Gunners during the 2006-07 season while on loan from Real Madrid.

"There is no truth in these reports claiming he is set for an exchange in January," said agent Herminio Menendez.

"Julio is currently away with the national side. Everything he has said points to a future in Rome."
