51711325Under fire Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has found himself an unlikely ally, as speculation continues to mount over his future.

Arsene Wenger took the time out, ahead of Saturday’s trip to Molineux, to publicly back Rafa Benitez and pinpointed the fact the Spaniard has a better win-ratio than both Fergie and himself had over his first 200 games.

Wenger has called upon the Liverpool directors not to be hasty in making a change, before suggesting that the open nature of the Premier League this season means you would be foolish to write any teams off in the title race just yet:

“Over his first 200 league games he has a better win-ratio than Alex Ferguson or me. Rafa Benitez is a super manager.

“But we live in a world where judgments are only made in the present. That’s why its important directors are strong enough to resist reacting to that.

“The Premier League this season is more open than ever. Everybody’s lost two games, at least. If it goes like that the champions will lose seven games at least.”
