Wolves goalkeeper Matt Murray has had a scan on his troublesome right knee amid fears that the 28-year-old may have to retire from the game.
Murray, who has not featured in the first team for two years following a horrendous run of injuries, lasted just 23 minutes of a reserve team game against Birmingham City earlier this month.
It was his first taste of action since he ruptured a patella tendon while on loan at Hereford United last season.
Boss Mick McCarthy said:"He's been for a scan on his knee but I haven't had the results of that yet.
"There's no long-term fears as far as I'm aware, but we haven't had the results yet. I'm not going to try to second guess it – let's get the results first from the experts."
Meanwhile, McCarthy has revealed that David Jones, Stephen Ward and Matt Hill are all close to returning to full fitness following injuries.
Jones and Ward are recovering knee operations while Hill has been suffering from an ankle problem for almost three weeks.
"Jones is back out training and he's delighted with himself, as is Stephen Ward," added McCarthy.
"They both might be back out in football training next week. Matt Hill is getting there and he might be okay for next week. We'll see."
