West Ham United boss Gianfranco Zola has backed his squad to improve and silence their doubters following Sunday's 2-1 defeat at home to Everton.

Despite taking the lead at Upton Park through a Tony Hibbert own goal, the Hammers slipped back into the relegation zone after a sixth defeat of a disappointing season.

"It is a big question mark for me, how can we lose a game like that," said Zola.

"We have to analyse the problems first and find solutions.

"I felt the players gave everything. Their attitude and their commitment was very good.

"But we have to find out straight away what is not working well, because it is not doing us any favours."

West Ham's next game is a meeting with fellow Premier League strugglers Hull City after the international break.

"I am not worried because I think we can certainly improve the situation," added Zola.

"We will find the solutions and we will find them as quickly as possible. I am confident and I trust the players."
