Has the boys Christmas cheer been dampened as Chelsea take the penalty, again and again to salvage a point against a battling West Ham up for the London Derby?

On the Chelsea FanCast Christmas special, whilst all around them panic at only one win in six games, the FanCast team look at the 1-1 draw against the ‘Appy ‘Ammers as a hard and well earned point which extends our lead at the top of the table to four points. Clearly Referee Mike Dean had also been over indulging in the Christmas Spirit – the 98% proof stuff – in missing obvious penalties, giving soft ones and then making Super Frank take one pen three times. Super Frank takes the plaudits for keeping his nerve under these circumstances in a more Frank like performance. Looking back at the midweek game against Portsmouth, the boys muse on the result being more important than the performance, which was about as sunny as Avram Grant’s features whilst receiving a luke warm reception on an otherwise cold and dank night. Monsieur Platini ‘fixes’ us up with a tie against Inter Milan in the Champions League and the return of Jose Mourinho. The boys ponder whether it will be like the return of Christmas past with Jose cast as Scrooge. At least we won’t be wearing our jinxed black and blue away kit for that one!!
