What does Harry NOW do with Luka Modric?
Although there are Tottenham fans out there who will tell you that they always knew what a good player Niko Kranjcar was and how he would be a success at WHL, I certainly wasn’t one of them and I have been pleasantly surprised at the level of performances he has been putting in.
Kranjcar has been an absolute sensation and whether it was Luka’s leg break that forced Harry to make the move is unsure, but in the past months he has become an important player in the team and his presence has more than made up for the loss of Luka Modric. The big dilemma facing Redknapp is what does he now does with the diminutive Modric, because let’s be honest he is too good a player to be left out.
I have been saying for a long time now that Modric should be given the centre stage in the Tottenham midfield. I think Luka is a lot tougher player than he is given credit for and isn’t afraid to put the boot in if need be and I have just felt he has been wasted for far too long out on the left hand side. I know Huddlestone has played well at times this season, but although he can pick a pass I would say that Modric is a far better playmaker and more capable of hurting the opposition. Another reason why I would keep Kranjcar on the left hand side is that I believe that Niko is better defensively and would therefore provide far better cover for Assou Ekotto, or in the coming weeks when Bale will be given his opportunity at left back.
So am I alone in my thoughts of Modric and do you agree that he should finally be given the central role? Would we be better of playing Kranjcar in the centre at the expense of Huddlestone and revert Luka back into the left hand role? Or should Modric simply replace his fellow countryman in the team, so not split up the current Huddlestone/Palacios central axis?

Interesting article… Krancjar has always been a class above Portsmouth. And Modric should be in the middle for Huddlestone. Easy.

Yeah I think Modric should be selected in place of Huddlestone, who can then come on when needed, esp if we’re defending a lead – he could hold up the play and dictate the pace. What we lack – and we saw that sorely missing at Foolham just now – is creativity to break down defences, and Modric gives us the edge here. I do feel sorry for Huddlestone, and perhaps rotating the three players (if Huddlestone starts, drop Kranjcar and shift Modric to the left) would work best for us here.

Agrie with the Lennon Palacios Modric Kranjcar part. Could be one of the best midfields in EPL. And with Defoe up front BUT, we need a world class partner for Defoe. Crouch isn’t world class, And you would think that with ALL those times he takes the ball down with his chest, shouldn’t he be getting better at it… and allthough I like Charlie, I think if we want to be amongst the best , we need a faster rightback with better crosses and that can overlap better with lennon… I Have 2 “teamssetup” sugestions.

to be honest i think modric would struggle in midfield(ramos days anyone) he,s no xavi but i guess unless harry tries him in the center of park will find out

Greavsey18 – couln’t agree more. IMHO Modric has got fight and is desperate to repay the fans as he has mentioned. Mouth watering the thought of those playing together!! For everyone who says you need two players in the middle who can defend – Beckham, Scholes, Keane and Giggs!! I appreciate Keane was probably worth two players, but hey we aint competing at that level yet and Modric can at least time a tackle or two, unlike Scholes….!!
