Bolton Wanderers striker Johan Elmander has admitted to being frustrated by being left on the substitutes bench in recent weeks.

The 28-year-old Sweden international has not started a game for almost exactly a month, with Croatia international Ivan Klasnic having started to hit top form alongside Kevin Davies.

Elmander told Aftonbladet:"Ivan Klasnic has scored some goals so I understand if Gary Megson doesn't bench him, but I wish that I could start so that I could help the team.

"It is a new experience to be benched. I might wake up one day and think how boring it is, but it hasn't happened yet."

Elmander joined the Trotters in the summer of 2008 from French club Toulouse, but has struggled to make an impact in the Premier League.

He has scored eight times in 42 games for Wanderers, with three of those strikes coming in his last seven outings.
