New Portsmouth boss Avram Grant remains adamant that his side can escape from the foot of the Premier League table and move clear of the relegation zone in the coming months.
Pompey have won just three times in 15 league games this season and are currently four points adrift of safety, ahead of the weekend trip to Sunderland.
Grant commented:"We need to come to the end of January in a position from where we can get some good results and escape from the relegation zone.
"I think we can do it. We need to think about things game by game, but we need to think about more than this.
"If we come to the end of January and we are in a position like we are now, we can stay in the league.
"We would like to be in a better situation than this, but we are taking it from game to game and are looking to take the points."
