Avram Grant is turning his focus towards Premier League survival after watching his Portsmouth team's Carling Cup hopes end with a quarter-final defeat to Aston Villa.
Pompey crashed to a 4-2 loss to Martin O'Neill's team at Fratton Park, Grant's second game in charge of the club following Paul Hart's departure last month.
The Israeli said:"The Premier League is more important, that's for sure. It's more important than the Carling Cup, but that doesn't mean we went into this game wanting to lose.
"We came to the game and wanted to win. But we're at the bottom of the table and we don't want to stay there.
"I think the spirit was good, but the organisation was not so good because we don't have players who can play in the same position as the ones we didn't have.
"We started the game very well, we were leading 1-0 and deserved it and then conceded a goal very quickly and then didn't play very well up until half-time.
"But we started the second half very well and dominated the game, but from their first attack in the second half, they scored again.
"This is the story of the game. We conceded very, very easy goals, which we cannot allow ourselves to do – especially in the league."
