Blackburn Rovers are anxiously awaiting news on the extent of a calf injury which will keep David Dunn out of Wednesday’s Carling Cup tie against Chelsea.

Dunn limped out of Saturday’s goalless draw against Stoke City and assistant manager Neil McDonald has revealed that the midfielder will miss the quarter-final tie at Ewood Park and is also a major doubt for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Liverpool.

Dunn, who is Rovers’ six-goal top-scorer, has already spent some time on the sidelines this season after contracting swine flu.

“David is out of the Chelsea game and is a doubt for Saturday,” confirmed McDonald. We’re assessing how bad the injury is.”

Meanwhile, on-loan striker Franco Di Santo will also miss the Chelsea game as the Argentinian youngster is not eligible to face his parent club.
