Hull City chairman Adam Pearson has admitted that the club need to sell a number of back-up players in the January transfer windows to avoid the need for more damaging sales.
Pearson recently returned to the helm at the KC Stadium and admits that finances are tight, with relegation from the Premier League posing an immediate danger both on and off the pitch.
He told the Daily Mirror:"I have to say right here and now that we are not going to be splashing out in January. That is for sure.
"We need to move fringe players out. Hopefully, if we can do that, there will be no need to sell players we want to keep.
"First and foremost this club needs to be secure and if we can stay up, great. The Championship would provide some serious problems.
"They can be overcome, but please do not expect us to be going out spending millions in the transfer window.
"There are a lot of balls in the air with the playing squad. There are a lot of talks going on in preparation for the January window."
Meanwhile, the Tigers are being linked with new year moves for Sheffield United defender Matthew Kilgallon and Crystal Palace midfielder Darren Ambrose.
